We have produced more than 70 of these events at lumberyards, tool stores, associations, distributor, and manufacturer venues over the last 5 years. The success of all Roadshow events depends upon a cooperative and enthusiastic spirit. Pre-show meetings are critical. We will schedule a personal pre-show meeting for your staff one month prior to your event date.

We will transport to your location all necessary tools for a full shop setup, including set walls, materials, sound system, projector, screen, and video camera for large-screen projection capable of accommodating up to 250 attendees. Larger venues and audiences are possible with additional AV support.

Below is a detailed list of sample topics and descriptions from the Finish and Rough Carpentry categories that you can choose from for a Roadshow Event. Roadshow Events are offered only with Gary Katz and/or Mike Sloggatt on Finish Carpentry or Rough Carpentry subjects.

Finish Carpentry with Gary Katz:

TROUBLE-FREE EXTERIOR TRIM
Flashings, drain planes, rainscreens, and isolating mitered moldings are all techniques that ensure durable exterior trim. Learn why miters move, how to reinforce them, and how to avoid them on columns and exterior trim.

REPLACEMENT WINDOWS AND INSTALLING HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL TRIM
Get the latest techniques for installing windows and doors - using sill pans and proper flashings. Then take a tour of architectural trim and see how easy it is to replicate historic styles and improve the quality of your work.

BOOKSHELVES & BUILT-INS
Start with a good design and work smarter using a calculator, lasers, story poles. Incorporate crown molding, chair molding, and baseboard to create custom and elaborate 'looking' rooms with a true built-in look.

WAINSCOTING AND PANELING
From layout to installation, use high-tech tools and simple craftsmanship-techniques that increase productivity and profit. Pick up tips on measuring, pre-assembly, cutting panels and molding that will enable you to create dramatic rooms in days, not weeks.

CONQUERING CROWN MOLDING
Install crown without closing your eyes, without test pieces or guessing, without wasting time or energy. Use cutlists and simple protractors for odd angles. Measure, mark, and cut precisely. Learn techniques for pre-assembling, coping, and installing crown with jigs and holders. Learn how to make crown as easy as baseboard, twice the fun, and three times as profitable.

MAKING MANTELPIECES
Learn to identify period styles with an overview of mantelpieces from historic homes. Review design, proportion, scale, and code requirements for successful mantelpieces. Use pocket-hole joinery and paneling techniques that speed up construction, and shop-made ornamentation to create unique custom work.

Rough Carpentry with Mike Sloggatt:

WATERPROOF WINDOWS & DOORS
Housewrap doesn't have to leak! Mike's Face-To-Face Instruction will boost your bottom line. See the latest tools, techniques, and materials - for staying ahead of the curve. Join Mike as he demonstrates correct installation procedures for Waterproof Windows and Doors, from the bottom of the sill... to the top of the frame. For attractive and long lasting window and door openings and exterior trim, don't rely on a Barrier System. Use a Drainage System on every opening. Learn how to use a brake and bend the flashing you need to protect windows, doors, & exterior trim. Discover the advantages of PVC for high-risk homes and see how to bend PVC trim.

WORKING WITH ENGINEERED LUMBER
Engineered joists and beams, along with production techniques for framing head-scratching gable-end walls and elaborate dormers are also Mike's specialties. Mike blends production techniques with custom quality: from using a Bigfoot saw for cutting multiple studs, joists, or rafters, to the latest fastening systems; from framing nailers to positive placement guns for joist hangers and hardware. This is an opportunity for attendees to improve their framing systems.

BUILDING BETTER DECKS
For pure profit-building enjoyment, and ways to protect that profit from call backs and re-work, don't miss Mike's decking presentations. Decks are fast becoming one of the problem areas for contractors, from drainage to durability. New building material products require special installation techniques. This information-heavy clinic is designed to cover the hot spots. The days of old growth joists and decking are over. Quality composite decking, installed on treated joists, demands special attention and the best fastening system.

RADIUS EXTERIOR TRIM
Don't miss the last math lesson of the day - it's full of sawdust. Starting with strings and moving to a router template, Mike rounds out the day cutting a perfect ellipse.
